Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency(BURA)

The Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency (BURA) is a public benefit corporation that was formed, by an act of the New York State Legislature, in 1966. Its corporate purpose includes the general planning and operation of various urban renewal programs designed to prevent or eliminate blight and deterioration in the City of Buffalo.

BURA is governed by a Board of Directors:

• Mayor Byron W. Brown, Chairman  
• Brendan Mehaffy, Executive Director of the City of Buffalo's Strategic Planning
• Janet Penksa, City of Buffalo Commissioner of Administration, Finance, Policy and Urban Affairs
• David Rodriguez, Acting Corporation Counsel
• Council President and Lovejoy District Councilmember Richard Fontana
• University District Councilmember Bonnie Russell
• North District Councilmember Joseph Golombek, Jr. 
• Dominick Bonifacio 

The BURA Board meets every second and fourth Thursday of the month in City Hall Room 209 at 9:30am
